Titera's Tidbit: Atari
The name of this all-American software company, which all but invented the modern computer game, comes from the Japanese board game "Go". At the time of the company's naming, all technological things from Japan were considered cool. "Atari", like "check" in chess, refers to the point in the game in which a player's stones are in danger of being captured.
