Titera's Tidbit: Wallet Biopsy
Not a nice concept by any measure, "wallet biopsy" is medical slang for the practice of investigating a would-be patient's financial status before making a commitment to treat or admit that unfortunate person, often leading to the requirement that a down payment be tendered. The first appearance of the term dates to 1988.
