Sip of the Day: Troubleshooting Red-Eye
Titera's Tidbit: Pig in a Poke
To buy a "pig in a poke", as the Appalachian proverb has it, is to spend money on something sight unseen. The phrase originated in Scotland, but many of Scotland's English dialects are full of French words. "Poke" comes from the French poche, meaning "pocket".
