In Latin, septem means "seven" and septimus means "seventh"; September was in fact the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 153 BC, when the first month changed from Kalendas Martius (1 March) to Kalendas Januarius (1 January).

Titera's Tidbit: Death Metal
Heavy metal, the loud rock 'n' roll pioneered by bands such as Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer (and whose name comes from a 1967 song by Steppenwold), is, to some ears, heavy enough. Mix in a moping preoccupation with death and destruction, and you've got "death metal". The term dates to a 1985 album by the appropriately named band Possessed, but it was probably coined a little earlier.
