No one much uses the approving word "snazzy" these days, though even those who've never heard it before understand it to be something good. The origin is unknown, but it comes from the world of jazz music and may simply rhyme with jazz. First attested in 1931, it was soon incorporated into the tough-guy talk of crime movies. Says one: "Think what a 'snazzy' life you've got. All the money in he world. No worries. No work."
