Titera's Tidbit: Buxom
A "buxom" person was someone who, in Old English, could biegan, "bend", easily - someone, in other words, who was physically and mentally flexible. The quality of pliancy came to incorporate the sense of being accommodating, which then came to mean a woman of a sturdy build, perhaps in confusion with the word "bosom".
