Titera's Tidbit: Chevy Chase
The Maryland city takes its name from a rugged district along the Scottish-English border called the Cheviot Hills, which came to be pronounced without its final syllable. The actor of the same name changed his name from Cornelius Crane Chase because he liked the sound.
