Titera's Tidbit: Babel
According to the book of Genesis, the residents of this Mesopotamian city decided to build a great tower reaching to the heavens, not to praise God, but to honor man's accomplishments. On hearing this, God decided that this was what happens when people speak the same language, so he "mixed up the languages of all the earth". The Hebrew word for "mix up" is balal, which yields "Babel".
