In Latin, septem means "seven" and septimus means "seventh"; September was in fact the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 153 BC, when the first month changed from Kalendas Martius (1 March) to Kalendas Januarius (1 January).

Titera's Tidbit: Mitsubishi
The giant Japanese manufacturer "Mitsubishi" began life in 1870 and took its present name - which means "three diamonds" in Japanese - in 1873. The name preceded the company's dominance in three main enterprises: shipbuilding, electronics, and heavy industry. Mitsubishi is now comprised of over 30 different companies.
